The Sears Newark is an English Colonial. The house in Gurnee has lost many of the original details such as the ornamentation (trophies!) above the front door, the original shutters, and the diamond muntin window on the second floor.
Sears sold the Newark from 1929 to 1933. The county says the house was built in 1932.
The exterior dimensions match those of the Sears Newark.

Including this one, there have been three Sears Newarks in the Chicago area located to date (one in Highland Park and one in Naperville).
Update!According to Sears Homes of Chicagoland reader Allison, the Newark was built in 1932 by Leslie and Mamie Cannon. Leslie was a power house repairman for ComEd. Leslie died in 1940, and Mamie eventually sold the house to her daughter, Beulah, so it would stay in the family.

Nice find! The brick version, the Worchester, that is by me (purportedly), is a little too big (25' deep), and built in 1936... according to tax records.

This is the house my great grandfather built in 1932, my grandparents then bought it from them, and my mother grew up here...and us grandchildren grew up visiting. My great grandfather and other family members built the house together after purchasing. Originally owned/bought by Leslie and Mamie Cannon (she lived here until her death at 106). We still have the original floor plans and purchase records I believe!
